On Publishing: Pleasure
One of the reasons I love making books is that doing so gives me pleasure.
This pleasure is multifaceted.
It is sensory – coming from the proximity to books as physical objects – their smell, feel, appearance.
It comes from having purpose – the goal of making beautiful books that make the world better.
It is in the joy of knowledge gained.
It is in exercising my mental faculties.
It is satisfaction in helping an author polish their work.
Mostly, though, my pleasure comes from knowing the books I make will bring pleasure to others.
