One for sorrow,
Two for mirth,
Three for a funeral
And four for birth
This little magpie rhyme first appeared in a book in 1780. And, although in many ways Magpie's model is a far-cry from that old book, the essence of what makes books beautiful is the same.
So, today, as I launch Magpie's crowdpublishing website (my latest baby), I am inspired by this little rhyme published long ago:
I'll go with four for birth, thanks!
